Q: Is Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant going to damage my hair?
A: No, Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant is not only ammonia and resorcinol free but is also enriched with vegetable ingredients designed for restructuring and protection. Many customers comment on the improvement of their hair condition upon using Naturtint.

Q: Can I colour my current dark tone to a lighter one with Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant?
A: Although it is hard to lighten very dark shades, it is possible to lighten most natural colours by up to 2 shades.

Q: Is Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant a new colorant?
A: No, Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant is a top quality colorant which has been successfully sold across Europe since 1984.

Q: How long does it take to colour my hair with Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant?
A: It simply takes 20-40 minutes once the colour has been mixed and applied.

Q: Is the Naturtint range tested on animals and is it environmentally friendly?
A: No, Naturtint is not tested on animals and is manufactured to the very highest, international (GMP) standards of practice.

Q: Can Naturtint be used if the customer has suffered severe allergic reactions to other hair colour in the past?
A: Allergic reactions vary and a skin sensitivity test must be carried out at least 48 hours before application. Naturtint Permanent Hair colorant has been dermatologically tested but in rare cases, reactions can occur. If a consumer has ever experienced swelling, blistering and/or burning then it is likely that they are allergic to PPD's and a skin test should demonstrate this - if so then the product must not be applied. In these cases, we recommend the use of Naturtint Reflex Non-Permanent Colour Rinses, provided a skin test is carried out before use. A skin test is an important precaution before the use of any hair dye but users should be aware that even if a sensitivity test has been carried out, an allergic reaction may still be experienced when the hair is coloured. The allergy alert test is not a guarantee of avoiding future allergic reactions. Medical advice should be sought in the case of any doubts.

Q: What are PPD's?
A: They are p-phenylenediamines found in ALL permanent and some semi permanent hair colorants with the exclusion of certain hennas. They add colour to the hair but are severe skin irritants and in rare cases can provoke severe or extreme reactions. A PPD reaction would typically result in skin swelling, burning and blistering in the region where they are applied. Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant contains minimum levels of PPD whilst Naturtint Reflex Non-Permanent Colour Rinse is free of PPDs. People allergic to PPD or those simply looking to avoid it should also be mindful that PPD has a number of alternatives that carry the same warnings and risk of allergy, such as toluene-2, 5-diamino sulphate and 2-dihydroxyethylamino or derivatives of PPD such as PPD salts and sulphates like N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine.

Q: Can Naturtint be used by cancer sufferers?
A: We have had excellent feedback from customers who have used Naturtint Reflex after their chemotherapy has finished. Significantly, Naturtint Reflex is free from peroxide and PPD as well as ammonia, resorcinol and parabens. We do strongly recommend any such customers seek medical approval before use. Some months after chemotherapy treatment is completed, many customers move on to Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant but we strongly recommend that the customer again seeks medical approval as to suitability.

Q: Can you use Naturtint whilst pregnant?
A: Many ladies continue to dye their hair during pregnancy and it is a very personal decision to make. Naturtint provides choice. Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant is free of two key chemicals - ammonia and resorcinol but Naturtint Reflex Non-Permanent Colour Rinse contains no ammonia, resorcinol, peroxide or PPD.

Q: Can Naturtint be used on other parts of the body?
A: Naturtint is not designed for facial or body hair and should not be used on eyebrows or eyelashes.

Q: Can Naturtint be used on top of previously coloured hair?
A: Most customers have used another colorant previous to trying Naturtint and we suggest wearing that colour for 4-6 weeks before applying Naturtint. We always recommend a strand test before use to ensure the chosen colour brings the desired result. Our helpline can then help if any uncertainties arise.

Q: Will Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant really cover Grey Hair?
A: Yes, Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant covers all normal grey hair from the very first application. If your hair is stubborn and resistant to colour, you should leave the colour to develop for the full 40 minutes.

Q: Can Naturtint Permanent be mixed?
A: Yes, many customers mix colours - please see the Colour Guidance & Mixing tab for advice.

Q: Can Naturtint Reflex colour grey hair?
A: Because Naturtint Reflex is so gentle and free from PPD, it will struggle to cover more than the early signs of grey hair. We do have a lot of customers who can only use Reflex, perhaps due to allergy or illness and over the years they have given us tips and hints on how they have maximised the grey coverage. Please email or call us if you think this information would be helpful.

Q: Is Naturtint Reflex going to damage my hair?
A: Certainly not, Naturtint Reflex is a very gentle colorant that under normal conditions simply sits on the outside of the hair as a 'coating' that then gently washes away. Lots of our customers who have perhaps overprocessed their hair in the past, find the Naturtint Reflex to be a nice colour treatment.

Q: Can I colour my current dark tone to a lighter one with Naturtint Reflex?
A: No. Because Naturtint Reflex is a temporary colour rinse and free from hydrogen peroxide, it cannot lighten the hair at all so you should choose a colour the same or darker than you current colour.

Q: How long does it take to colour my hair with Naturtint Reflex?
A: It simply takes 30-45 minutes once the colour has been applied.

Q: Can Naturtint Reflex be used on top of previously coloured hair?
A: Most customers have used another colorant previous to trying Naturtint Reflex so we would recommend a strand test before use to ensure the chosen colour brings the desired result. If you have had your hair bleached or highlighted previously, be aware that though non-permanent, Naturtint Reflex could act more like a permanent colour on this very porous hair. Our helpline can then help if any uncertainties arise.

Q: Can Naturtint Reflex be mixed?
A: The Reflex shades are not designed to be mixed as unlike the permanent colours, they contain just a colourant and not a colourant and developer. Any customers wishing to try mixing shades should carry out a strand test first.

Q: How do you carry out a skin test?

1. Remove any earrings. Cleanse a small area (1-2cm) of skin behind your ear and on your inner elbow and dry gently.

2. Put on the gloves provided and carefully unscrew the caps from the Colourant and Colour Developer bottles.

3. In a plastic bowl, using plastic utensils, mix a small amount (in equal measures) of the Colourant and Colour Developer until totally blended. Do not use metal or metal utensils. Reseal both bottles immediately to preserve the contents ready for full application 48 hours later.

4. Using a cotton bud, apply the mixture to the cleansed area behind your ear and on your inner elbow and allow it to dry.

5. Then apply 2 more layers, each time allowing the areas to dry in-between.

6. Leave the test mixture on the skin for at least 48 hours without washing, covering or touching the test area.

7. If you experience any signs of reaction, such as swelling, redness, blistering, rash or itching, in or around the test area, you are sensitive to one or more of the ingredients within the formula – rinse immediately and do not use this product on your hair.

Q: How do I carry out a strand test?

1. Use the same mixture you prepared for your skin sensitivity.

2. Cut a small lock of hair from the root and, wearing the gloves provided, completely cover with the mixture. You might find it helpful to secure the ends with some sticky tape first.

3. Rinse the hair clean after 20-30 minutes. In the case of stubborn grey or to achieve a more intense colour, leave the mixture for a further 5-10 minutes.

4. Gently dry the section of hair to reveal your colour result, remembering to make a note of your hairs specific development time.

5. If the colour result is too dark reduce the development time for your full colouring process, if the grey coverage is insufficient increase the development time to a maximum of 40 minutes, or if the colour result is too light we recommend you choose a darker shade.
